Socialize, Socialize, Socialize. You have until your pup is 12 weeks of age to complete a program of socialization. That's the first thing I'd do while you are having it potty where you want and doing the crate training.

Well, maybe you should have researched before you got your newest "accessory".

EDIT: Okay, so the dog is now a "Her", an "It", AND a "Him"? This is interesting.

house breaking a chi can be tough. however teaching them tricks is easy. they are very smart. be consistant in your methods, watching a show like the dog whisperer will tell you more than someone can post on here. use small treats like tiny bits of hot dog, or cheerios. i had a long haired chihuahua that knew, sit, stay, lay down, shake, jump through hoop, dance, sniper crawl and he would walk with me anywhere without needing a leash. very smart trainable dogs!

I agree that socializing is a very important part of dog training and in those early days you must give your dog as many experiences as possible or as they get older they can fear things like load noises.
I think the best plan would be for you to look in your local area for a good dog training club, that way the dog can socialize and you can learn the best way to train your dog.
