...need help? Okay, we bought the puppy last night, he's a 9 weeks old male shih tzu (very cute too) and i know rome wasnt built in a day, but my baby messed up.

i fed him at 9 pm

so i wanted to start him on the wee wee pads so i put it a little away from his crate and put him in the crate... i waited until he strted sniffing for the bathroom but every time he strted acting like he had to go, he'd stop then play with a toy, so id take them and then he didnt strt sniffing so he just went in his cage, i had school the next day (today) so i went to bed and i just left his cage open (this was about midnight) so he could go when he needed...

i woke up and he got it all backwards... he pooed in his crate and left crate to sleep under the table.... we decided to change his feeding schedule to nd 7 and he just ate, so what can i do to help him use his wee wee pad?
oh yea, i forgot to say, the pet store guy said dont take him out for 2 months, idk whether its because of this cold weather or because he's too young, but thts wht he aid
HE DID IT!!!! He went on the wee wee pad by himself!!!

dont worry im not trying to sell ringtones. this is what we had to do for our little cocker spaniel. we got her on a weekend so we had some time to bond with her before the work/school week. all we did was watch her like a hawk for about 2 weeks. any time she started sniffing she went straight on the puppy pad and we said things like "go pee pee." she started using it pretty quickly. but since they are puppies you have to really understand their schedule. first dont leave the crate open by any means at night. just waiting for a disaster. we have the crate right next to the bed and me and my girlfriend take shifts watching her. we get her good and tired right before bed time, and let her pee. (she holds her poops in until the next day for some reason.) then we let her fall asleep in our arms and put her in the crate. close all the doors too. now you go to sleep and try to get a few hours in before she starts whining. for us its about 6am. this means they have to go to the bathroom. just let her out and guide her to a puppy pad. we usually play with her for about 10 minutes and she falls asleep again for another 4 hours or so. you just gotta be consistant and keep an eye on her. we have since let her roam the apt and she pees on the pad every time, but poops off so we gotta get back into watching her again. also dont let the puppy play outside until its had all its shots because it could pick up a disease or parvo or something. good luck man.
