Right now,we have a 2, almost 3 yr old boxer. I love her to death, she's my bestest buddie :]
But I want another dog, which we can have now that we bought this HUGE house and we have an acre of land. I would love to get another boxer, they're so fun and friendly, but on the other hand, I kinda want a tiny dog that doesn't grow much bigger, like a pomeranian. I would be able to buy the dog, buy the food, pay for vacinnes, etc. (I work for a vet, so we get family discounts on check ups and vacinnes)
But i need a way to convince my parents to let me get one. When HART goes to Petco on weekends, I always ask how much to adopt, and they say it depends on the breed really. Average is $250.
Oh&& I need to know if tiny dogs (Poms, shitzus, etc.) get alond with Boxers.

I'll tell you how I convinced my mom to have another puppy when my dog was 4 y.o. Besides taking good care of my first dog (for her to know I was responsible), I did my best at school, won a national contest in biology and studied like crazy to go to University: less than a month before winning the contest, there was a really cute puppy at home

The best way is to butter them up... make them see how cute and friendly the dog you want is. Tell them about all the responsibly you will take and let them no that you really want one. Convince them that if they do get the dog that everything will run smoothly. And be sure that your old dog and the one your going to get will get along.

Love what you have and be happy. 2 dogs are plenty. Being a mom I can tell you you, begging will go nowhere if were completely against it. You'll just annoy the crap out of them, till you wind up grounded.

To answer the second part of your question, my Pomeranian seems like she has a crush on our neighbors Boxer... she runs up to him and gives him kisses all over his face, and cries when he ignores her.. it is hysterical lol.. So, yes, small dogs can get along with larger breeds

It is fantastic that you want to adopt a dog, but consider your parent's reasons for not wanting another dog in the house.

I myself am struggling with the "just because" excuse. I am desperately trying to convince my parents that a foster dog would be a GREAT addition to the family- yet to no avail.

Sometimes, you just have to wait until you move out. It sucks, but that is the way it is and you'll be a better person for waiting. In the meantime, I personally spend most of my time with local rescues. I currently have four animal rescues in my area that I am working with. Try doing the same.

Well since you're working I'm going to guess you're between 15-17, so I'd suggest waiting for a bit before getting a puppy of your very own. If you're planning to go to college or just to move out on your own at 18 then that means you might end up having to leave the dog with your folks for a few years. You should be able to provide a reasonably stable living situation for your potential pooch for the next 15 years before you buy.
