I have a friend who does not listen to a word I say...and is not really a friend. She is going to get a dog, but she is going to buy one! I want her to adopt to save a life and to stop being a selfish @$$ hole!! I want her to get the point that buying a dog kills another dog, but she will not look at pics I show her, or watch any videos I try to get her to!!

She does not care and says her dad won't let them get one from a shelter, but she has not even comfronted him about it!! She does not care, and I am sick of bending to adults wishes when I could save a life!!! How can I get her to listen to me and understand the seriousness of what she is doing and how many dogs will dies because of snooty B****** like her! How can I get her to open her eyes and adopt bafore it is to late for another dog to die! Plz help me here!!

If my "friends" ever talked about me the way you are...I'd dump you like a hot potato. Its her life, her choice. I'm a VOLUNTEER AT A SHELTER AND TWO RESCUES and even I realize that people have a right to choose, and that not everyone can cope with some of the issues rescues have.

Sadly, if you've already offered the suggestion to adopt, and have given her all the reasons why its' better than buying, the ball is in her court now. If she chooses to buy from a breeder instead of adopting from a shelter, I don't think there is much chance of changing her mind.

All you can do is sit back and wait. If things don't work out with the dog, be there to step up and take care of it, so IT doesn't end up in a shelter too.

The next time you are in the car with her, surprise her and drive her to your local animal shelter. When you get there, just tell you that you want to play with the puppies or something. Once you are there I am Sure she will fall in love with the animals, then nonchalantly say something like "It's too bad so many of these dogs have to get euthanized just because they Don't get adopted." I am kind of a trickster, and I have done that kind of thing to my parents. I think it is worth a shot.

I know you have good intentions but its honestly her decsion and her commitement.
Just make sure she finds a reputable breeder.
