how long should my friends pregnant dog go off of her food for she hasnt eaten since lunch time she is 58 days she was sick this evening she has been going really mad in her den the newspaper has been going everywhere and her breathing is really heavy, could she be having them 2 night should my friend stay up with her

Sounds like she's nesting in preparation of the birth. Your friend should stay with her but keep her distance and only step in incase of problems. Good luck to mum and pups xxx

The best way to find out if she is in is to take her temperature. It will drop bellow 98. She does sound like she is nesting though nesting can start a few days earlier but the heavy breathing sounds like she is in the beginning of labor. It's not uncommon for them to delver a few days early. Watch her when she is outside. Good Luck! I feel strongly about NOT leaving her will she is giving birth just in case there is a problem but do back of if she seems upset (Growling or trying to get away from you). Some dogs want you there (mine always have)
