Default I want a small dog with little grooming needs?

smart, and has a funny personality. I don't mind some shedding, and a little hair, but I don't want to have to take it to the groomers every week. I have two other dogs right now. so I want that's not a "one person, one pet" dog

Good luck there most small dogs have to be groomed(often, by a proffesional). Well West Highland Terriers are great little dogs and so are Yorkshire Terriers and they usually like other dogs too. But I wouldn't go with a toy poodle their hair is coarse and they visit the groomers too often, but a small dog that needs no grooming would be a beagle, they are cute, small and a lot of fun! You coud also check into Basset Hounds. Dachshunds can be quite aggressive and are usually more "one person" dogs, but pomeranians are also good little dogs who don't need grooming.

Also don't be fooled, because longhaired dachshunds need grooming so if you are going to get a dachshund get either a shorthair or wirehaired.

A chihuahua, long haired Chis shed less then short haired ones, aside from brushing they don't need a lot of grooming. I have one of each and neither sheds much though.
