Default How do I find boarding facilities for pit or bull terrier dogs?

I have 2 wonderful rescued pit mix dogs. Recently the place where we boarded them when travelling has closed, and finding another facility that accepts "pit bull or bull terrier breeds" has become very hard. Does anyone have any suggestions? My dogs are fixed and have been raised by us since puppies, but still no one seems to want to take a chance on keeping them. The previous professional boarding family loved them and had no problems. Help!

Ask the facility for a visit. Sit down one on one with them and see if they will do an evaluation of your dogs. They have many aggressive little dogs in there that they are not telling you about because they are not PITS. Do you have a Pit Rescue in town? I would try and get someone from there to puppysit for you. It is better for them to be with someone who is not sending your dogs bad energy anyway. I also love Craigslist!!!! Post there and you will find someone who will come to your home.

Any dog care provider should no not to "exclude certain breeds" just because they have a bad rep. That ticks me off.

Try the yellow pages under boarding facilities, and if they say they don't do "pit bulls" argue your a$$ off. It may or may not get you in, but it will make you feel better.

Try doing some of your own research...Google day cares in your town, and CALL THEM and ask if they accept your breed!

No one here will be able to help you.

It will be very hard finding a place that accepts those breeds, or mix of those breeds.

your best bet is to call a reputable breed specific rescue, in your case, a pitbull rescue in your area, and ask them if they could recommend a boarding facility that would accomodate your dogs, from there, check out the facility first, see what kind of shape it is in, how they treat the animals etc...... not everybody loves animals some are in it for the money. There is one woman who is suing a boarding kennels in CA, she went on vacation with her husband for 8 days and boarded their lab there, she checked in every day, they said he was doing great etc... when she came back to pick him up, he was lethargic, running into walls, etc.... she took him to the emergency vets office, where he died. They didn't feed or water him the entire time, he died of starvation and dehydration. She was horrified!! So please be careful, ask for references, check them out with the city/county ACO don't just take their word for it. You have a very special breed of dog and need to take great care to find out who you are leaving in charge of them. People have a lot of stupid pre concieved notions about pitbulls, I foster and transport for a pitbull rescue, been there done that and live it every day. Please do your homework on any boarding kennels you use for any breed of dog. Good Luck and best wishes

I'd look for a pet sitter instead. You don't want to have to take just any boarding facility but have a choice. Since your choices are limited, I'd look for another option. My dogs do better staying at home anyway.
