I need info on how to train and housebreak a 2 yr. old Pomerian dog?

I have a breed of dog now that I never owned before and they are very difficult to housebreak and take care of. I want to take good care of her, but do not want to loose my sanity, since she does not know me, nor do I know her but we are bonding. Do not want to seem insensitive, but am I too old to have this breed of dog to make her happy. Help, please,
