Default Dog is sick in the car?

My dog always gets sick in the car, even after 5 minutes drive he throws up,we try not to give him food before we go somewhere but it still doesn't work.Is there anything to do,so he would enjoy the ride?He is 4 months now, will it go away?

it might go away. do you keep the window open? that helped my dog a lot. she would get sick exactly 45 minutes into any car ride. seriously, it was like clockwork (and we always drove from VA to NY so thats no fun). she probably grew out of it around 4 or 5 years old. after we learned that she HAD to have the windows down.

you can try making him lay down, if he's wandering around, he might be losing his balance which isnt helping with the car sickness. also, there is meds you can give, but talk to your vet about that because its all based on size/weight

do you give the dog plenty of air? either you won't be able to take the dog on trips bc you don't want him miserable and a stinky car, or if it is a small dog, take a towel with you so it doesn't get on your seats...but he will still be miserable if he doesn't outgrow it. We have 2 dogs, one loves to ride, and one hates to ride and she is about 10 yrs old (people years) and still won't get in the car willingly...

try giving benydryl half an hour before the ride, its an antihistamine drug that is often proscribed for motion sickness. Try socializing him to the car too. like even putting him in the car for a bit without going anywhere. Gradually build up to going around the block and so on.

Sounds like he gets car sick. Do you put him in the front or back of car? Maybe you could change that. If not, the vet can get you Dramamine for dogs. My moms dog is like that. It's just a small pill that makes him "chill" a little. Hope this helps.
