I have an 11 week old Corgi/Beagle mix that I have had and been crate training for about three weeks. When it's time to put her in the crate I tell her "it's cubby time" (yeah, I know, it's cheesy

) and she walks right into the crate, sits down and awaits her treat. And she'll continue to sit patiently for a few minutes before she decides that she's had enough and starts howling and whining (and, no, I don't and let her out when she does that). She has plenty of toys that enjoys in there with her. My question is two-fold. First, how long before she accepts her crate? Anything else I can do to help that along? Second, at night, after about 3-4 hours, she'll start whining. How do I know whether it's a whine for attention, or for a bathroom break? If it's been 3-4 hours since I put her in, I'll get up and take her outside. She always goes but sometimes she doesn't last 3-4 hours and I can't help but wonder how many times she's really whining for attention. She's in her crate no longer than 4 hours at a time. I put her in when I go to work in the morning, then I come home and let her out to eat and play at lunch, put her back in, and then when I get home (4:30-ish), she is let out and remains out until around 9:30 - 10:00 at night. I try to take her on walks, or at the very least let her play around in the backyard, or roam around on our back deck with me.
