We're about to adopt a 11mo puppy, his Mother is a Cocker Spaniel/Beagle and the Father Cocker Spaniel. Is there anyone around with a similar cross that doesn't mind sharing their thoughts on them. In particular whether they shed as much as Beagles, Whinging/Whinning or Barking like the beagles or require as much exercise as the beagles. Is there anything we should be watching out for? Thanks!
originally we were after a Beagle but as this guy is already 11 months I was told by a friend of my mother's that it maybe a better alternative to buying a puppy, training it etc etc. But reading about both breeds I realised it may not be the case, just want a confirmation:-) From the first few answers I've got it seems like a bad idea.
Ooops we're not going to adopt it yet. We're _considering_ it, but I'm researching it before we commit to it. He's living with his family right now. I've emailed them but just doing some research before we meet them.

I have a 3 year old cocker/beagle cross and highly recommend the breed. She is very gentle and loves people, and has been wonderful with my new baby.

She is short-haired and sheds a bit, and has quite a deep bark, but not a howl like a beagle's. She weighs approx 15 kilos (33lb) and hasn't had any health problems. I take her to the vet to get her nails trimmed (they're black and I'm scared to do it myself).
