That's totally unacceptable. ANY kind of aggression is. He needs to have intensive training to break him of this habit. You have to establish yourself as the pack leader and make him understand that you gave it to him and can take it at any time you it. Whatever "IT" is.

Well dogs like this usually are put to sleep by the pound. They won't even let people adopt dogs like these.

I suggest taking him to a trainer. They'll know how to deal with him and give you suggestions.

You hit him squarely between the eyes with a baseball bat - preferably an aluminum one. It's easier to clean the gore off a metal bat than it is off a wooden one. Guaranteed to work.

ANY aggression shown by ANY dog needs the help of a professional. if you don't know how to fix the problem yourself, you need to consult a trainer.

I agree with getting a professional dog trainer involved. We've had pups that showed some food aggression, we started feeding everything by hand. Once that seemed fine we'd put small amounts in the dish and add more while he's eating, he came to see that a hand near his food just meant more food. I'd lay off bones, or anything that lasts, for a while. Once things seem more under control slowly bring them back. Teach your dog 'release' or 'drop it', 'give' whatever you like to call it. If he gives you his bone, immediately give him a treat then give is bone back. He'll figure that's a great deal, and won't think you're 'stealing' his food. Always show a calm demeanor and lots of patience.
Good Luck!

The only way to do this from the positive side is to keep presenting food or treats till he learns no one is gonna take them....hand him one...than another when he drops one pick it up and keep cycling them to him....

Definately Definately DEFINATELY take this dog to a trainer. You will not be able to do anything about this (unless you are a trainer...which in that case you wouldn't be asking this here, would you?). Lots of dogs go into rescues like this and they are able to get it out of them. This is something that needs to be fixed now especially if you have ANY children in or around your home.
