we have changed many times and he eats anything and everything and doesnt get sick (snakes, bugs random things he finds on the ground, turtles, poop ) iknow really gross!

Some, but not all, dogs have delicate digestive systems that can't handle such immediate switches. If you feed Nature's Variety, Wellness, Natural Balance, or another brand that makes both kibble and canned, you could feed canned for the birthday if you normally feed kibble, or a different flavor he doesn't normally get. For example, if he always eats canned beef or lamb but likes chicken, on his birthday give him canned chicken.

He won't die, but it can cause diarrhea. I think if it 's only a day he should be fine. I went on a short vacation with my dog and didn't have enough dogfood with me so I wasn't able to get his normal food. He was fine. He did have a little diarrhea. If you were going to completely change him to that brand I would say you should do it gradually.

I had to change my dog's food when I got her b/c the old stuff was making her sick, and she didn't have a problem. But every dog is different.

You might want to try just giving him half and half for his meals today to see if he likes it. That way it can't upset his tummy and if he likes it then you can give him half and half for another day and then 3/4 Cesar and 1/4 the other kind the next day and then all Cesar should be fine after that.

You can never tell what will upset a dog's tummy, so it's better safe than sorry, you know.

I switched my dog to this b/c I found out the crap they put in commercial dog foods and only wanted to give my puppy the best. Besides, she wouldn't eat anything else, she loves this stuff. They will also send you a sample packet if you want to try it.

I'm glad you are wanting to give him something special, but also wanting to be careful to not make his tummy upset. Good luck, I hope he likes it.

i give my dog a can or bag of wet food every nite it doesnt bother him or my moms dog. he has a bowl of dry food at all times he eats but in the evening i always give him wet food. it doesnt bother him at all. just last nite he had a thing f cesar and liked it.

I am not familiar with this food. However, when ever you are changing dog foods you want to do is slowly and mix them together and slowly wean out the old food. Just abruptly changing food can cause diarrhea or loose stool.
