Get on the internet and find out. It is as simple as that. It will give you a long list of the recalled foods. Don't be lazy. Look it up yourself.

As far as I know it is not, but there are new ones coming out every day. You can go to aspca.com or cnn.com to get a complete list. The company that had the first big recall that involved store brands and brands like IAMS and Eukanuba is Menu Foods and their website is menufoods.com if you want to check it out. We foster dogs for a local animal rescue group and have 2 dogs of our own - a 1yr old neutered Beagle/Husky mix and a 3 yr old neutered Rottweiler. We feed them (this is kinda a weird name , but awesome food) "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul". It's top 3 ingredients are chicken, turkey, (the actual meat, not "meal") and cracked pearled barley. It has rice instead of corn or wheat (corn is nothing but a crap filler with NO nutritonal value and same with wheat, and wheat is what has been the problem with all the recalls). It also has duck, salmon, dried eggs, peas, carrots, potatoes, and all kinds of good stuff. Also has added vits like glucosamine for joint health. The only place we have ever found it at is a lawn and garden center in a neighboring county ( a small town store, not a chain) and you can order it on the internet, the sight we use is PetFoodDirect.com. We have not been able to find it at PetSmart or PetCo. I used to be "ignorant" about food until we started doing our homework on it. Our guys used to get Purina Pedigree. Then I found out to look in the top 3 ingredients as the ingreds are listed in order of most to least, and they should optimally have at least 2 meats and rice, barley, or oatmeal instead of corn or wheat. Pedigree had NO meat just "meal" (which from my understanding is just all the leftover parts no one wants like bits of gristel, beaks, feet, etc) but I am not quite sure. And Pedigree's #2 Ingredient was corn gluten. I just always thought as long as it was a good "name brand" and not the "cheap or store breand" that it was good stuff. A lot is not. Also, we ideally need to have something both boys and fosters can eat. Keep checking about the food you feed more is added every day it seems.Brandi

Check your ingredient label - if wheat gluten is NOT listed then you are probably OK. That being said, several brands of treats have also been recalled recently for salmonella. And Ol'Roy treats were recalled today because of wheat gluten from the China source.Best place to check is the official FDA website, I've ended up just bookmarking it and checking it daily:http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/petfood.htmlI feed my dogs either Canidae and/or Wellness, neither of which have been involved in the recall. "Safe" brands that I know of include: CanidaeWellness (made by Mother Hubbard)Solid GoldFlint River RanchEagle PackNature's Variety (either Raw Instinct or Prairie)
