may get him to again? My dog Tater Bug is a stray that I have had for about 14 years myself so I'm unsure of his true age. The past week 1 1/2 weeks he has not wanted to eat. I've tried even giving him some of the things that he has always loved as special treats (liverwurst, luncheon meat, hot dogs, boiled soup bones, hamburger (cooked and uncooked), etc.)The only thing that he has showed and interest in is some half frozen cocktail shrimp that I was unthawing. I know that his time is coming near, he has hearing loss, cataracts(sp), I think he has doggie parkensins disease as he is shaky and has a hard time controlling his hind legs. He has been having some accidents in the house, I think because of a few stairs that we have out our front door, so, I've been using a piece of plywood for a doggie ramp for him or trying to get him out the back door so he don't have to negotiate anything. We are trying to make him as comfortable as we can, I'm just worried about his eating and water intake. Grateful for help!
I just want to thank everyone for the information and I am deeply grateful for help in taking care of my ailing friend. I've known this time was coming and as with all of us can hardly stand it. All , I want for him is to be happy and peaceful. My last dog also very old passed away the day after I had taken her in to be groomed and in her sleep. I think she thought "oh, I look so pretty, I'm comfortable, happy, loved, had a long good life, and I'm tired. I'll just wait for you on Rainbow Bridge."
