Default Wellness Dog food vs. Natures Variety?

I recently switch my three dogs from Wellness (super pack and core) to Natures Variety ( Instinct, Praire, Can food). The reason for the switch was my wife has been working for Natures Variety. She does store demos and tries to get people to pay their product. After about two months my Catahola Leopard dog started shedding a whole lot more. She also started developing dander, and my asthma started in. I told my wife it looks like we will have to get rid of her. Not really believeing it was the food, I went out and bought different brushes, I usely don't brush her much , because I have to brush my two Schnauzers daily. But anyway to get to my point I just put them back on Wellness for about two weeks and the shedding has stopped. I have not needed my inhaler and there is peace in my house again. With this said. Why do people give their dogs such bad food? My foster Schanuzer had a ton of dander too, when got him a few months ago. Food really makes a difference.
Natures Variety is good food. I was really aiming at the lower quilty foods such as Purina, Eukanuba/Iams, Pederagree.
