I KNOW!!! I'm in the WA area and all you find is PEDIGREE and Chum and all that other junk.Beleive it or not you may think i'm lying but i'm not! I have to actually order or import Canadae and Merrick dog food from America becoz i don't really like the other foods... Unbeleivable hey? I'd say make a homemade mixture of dog food... i do that with my dogs. I feed them... I feed my dogs a homemade mixture with some Canadae and some Merrick kibble thrown in. My home made mixture contains...

2 x-tra large liver cookie bones crushed up
1 raw egg
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
2-8 sardines (as much as i really want for a shiny coat, Omega 3 and fish oils)
1/2 cup of Merrick/Canadae kibble
Some cooked broccoli
A pinch of garlic ( tasty smell)
Some cheese
Fresh Chicken
1 cup of rice

And I add a bit of different meats every now and then. I have 12 dogs and puppies so i got to divide the meals and sometimes add a bit more ingredients if i don't add enough!! They love it and it's yummy so you could try it. All ingredients yummy and healthy. You should try it if you don't mind the hassle of getting the ingredients together the first time you make it. But it's so worth it my dogs love it! It's like a little gourmet meal for your dog! But since you don't have Merrick or Canadae just add some beef or liver in (fresh).

Go to your butcher, supermarket or ethnic grocer. Feeding your dog on raw meat, edibles bones and offal is far better than any kibble you can buy.

Get hold of Ton Lonsdale's books. This Windsor, NSW based vet has been campaigning for more natural feeding for our pet carnivores for many years - see the feeding link....

I updated my answer last time you asked, go check it out. Might want to contact vetwest.com.au, or some local vets, someone may order it in for you. Also check out;www.naturalpetstore.com.au click on their products and read about them. There may be some alternatives there or email them asking them for canidae. It will prob be available here soon, it seems really popular. You may have to do a bit of research yourself, like I said before I feed all fresh food, raw and organic because there really is some crap in dog food. Google "by products" and see what it says!

Add on; Dr harry on tv reccommends "supercoat' ingredients dont look too bad. A dog breeder I know who owns a produce store here only feeds her dogs "advantage". Its really expensive $36 per bag. But shes tried many and she says its the best, she also sells 'supercoat', she says thats ok. but prefers advantage. Im sure youll find advantage where you are. Good luck!
