buy little bags of different foods and see which one he likes better. mine loves kibbles and bits and *hates* purina. we went through many brands to find one she liked.

Dont buy dog food from a regular store like Walmart. Buy it at a pet store such as Petsmart or Petco. Buy the puppy, dog food for puppies and put water in it to soften it. Wet dog food from a can is not good for any dog. Dry dog food is the best.

well the ones that i have always considered with my dogs r chicken soup for the dog lover's soul dog food, canidae, and royal canin. they r all really good. and i use chicken soup. my dog just absolutely loves it

EDIT: with any food the thing ur looking at is the ingredients. if the main ingredient in a food is something like corn, or wheat or anything like that. then the food is pure garbage. it has little nutritional value. these things r fillers. they r put into the food to create a cheap food that a lot of people will buy just for that reason. in the source section i will list some bad foods to buy and their website and some good ones and their websites. look at the ingredients and u will be able to tell. all u have to do is compare them.

You can't go wrong if you choose Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae, or Timberwolf Organics. None of them have any of the cheap fillers like corn or rice gluten, wheat, beet pulp or sorghum that dogs can't digest. Their 1st ingredient is meat. So to choose a food, read the labels, don't buy any brand sold in supermarkets, take a look at the websites for these brands. You also have to consider what kind of dog you're getting - if it's a large or giant breed, you need to be careful they're not getting too much protein. Let your puppy's breeder, if reputable, help guide your choice.
