Dog grooming trauma!?
Hi, advice please. I have a 10 month old Bihon who I take to a Dog groomer every 6 weeks to keep his coat in order, I do brush him myself but it's difficult because he bites the brush. And I know I should be firm before you point that out! anyhow, this time he had got very knotted up, he jumped into my mom's garden pond when we visited at Christmas, and the wet weather here means he's been wet everyday. The groomer said there was no choice but to go short, and when I went to collect him he was virtually shaved all over, I mean you can see skin in places, and there were a couple of small nicks on his belly. He looks freaky. Since then, he's been moping in his basket, doesn't want to walk, drink or eat or play. Seems like he is depressed. Is that ridiculous? any ideas? and how long before it grows back. Thanks, I know this is a long question, I love him so much!
Thanks this is all super helpful. I use a comb and a paddle brush to groom him and some spray. I just think the groomer could have persevered a lttle. Also he was there all day, they had so many dogs booked in.
