Default How much would it cost to get my dog groomed?

She is a medium size german shepherd. I went to PetSmart web site, but they don't give costs.. they say to stop in.. i'd like to have some sort of idea before I do that... Anyone know?
Also, can I get my cat groomed?

Hi, in Maine I would charge $55. to$60. They take a tremendous amount of drying and then brushing out the undercoat....if I only worked on 1 shepard it would take 2 - 3 hrs for that one dog. The undercoat is usually packed tightly around the rear haunches and is so dense that it takes forever to get the water out....can't brush it out till it's dry. If you do it yourself then make absolutely sure you get the soap rinsed or you'll have major skin problems.

I am a dog groomer at a mom and pop shop. We normally charge around 45-50 here in jersey. That includes Bath, nails, shave butt and belly, trim feet, clean ears. then after the dog is completely dry which does take along time we blade the dog out with the furminator. It is amazing how much undercoat is shedded in the bath and with the tool. We also use special shampoo to help get the undercoat out and help with shedding between visits. which is 4 times a year. unless you want it more. So I would call around in your area and check prices. the best places in my opinion are the mom and pop shops. We take great pride in our work and not worry so much about rushing through dogs for the money.

Oh yeah. you can get your cat groomed. it is usually more money because they sometimes can be more difficult and they take a long time to dry. we charge 50-60 for cats. depending on what is being done. Bath and blade out 50. lion cut 60.

I pay 45 dollars to get my Lhasa Doxie groomed but he gets a special mohawk. So I would guess about 45 dollars since it is a much bigger dog but not a lot of hair design.

It depends on where you go, and where you live. I am a grooming manager at a Petco in Southern CA, and the basic cost for a German Shepherd starts at about $38.00. Then they would estimate for undercoat as well, which can run from $5 to $15. That includes a bath and brush with a basic shampoo, ear cleaning, and a toe nail trim. They also have different add-on packages as well if you need something special for your pet.
