I agree 100% with Care_bea....a slicker brush and a rake and continue brushing everyday and you should have no problems. Just be sure you are getting down the skin so you don't have any matting close to the skin.
Also a little trick of trade when you give your dog a bath brush your dog out with the slicker brush with the shampoo on after it's all lathered up. This will get your dog super clean down to the skin and will get all the excess undercoat out of the fur. And do this with the conditioner on too. Then when the dog is dry all the undercoat that is left will all brush out with ease.
